Take The Stage Frequently Asked Questions

  • “Take the stage” is what we say here at Pure Energy for don’t let anyone steal your spotlight. It means step forward and proudly own the space you take up, on the stage as well as in the universe. Through working on performance skills we train children to be bold, have confidence, be proud of their accomplishments and hard work and give them the tools they need for self-expression.

  • The camp is for performers ages 4-14. They will be grouped by age to focus on appropriate skills.

  • Student teacher ratio is 1:10 for ages 8+, 2:10 for ages 4-7. Each station has a set teacher they will work with, children under 7 will have a designated teacher who will rotate with them and be with them all day

  • There is no theme. The camp focuses on performance skills in general. The campers will work on singing, dancing, acting, mobility and agility (to get those wiggles out) and have some special workshops scattered in as well such as performance history, vocabulary, choreography and dance parties and guest performances too! Each group will perform a dance, song and acting demonstration for the Friday show.

  • Singing and acting is new to our Pure Energy curriculum. We feel strongly that these skills compliment dance and all three skills are important. Not to mention how much singing and acting help with socializing and public speaking.

A fun way acting can be taught is through guided improvisational games. In addition to learning acting, this teaches the kids to think on their feet, portray thoughts and feelings, take risks, pay attention to instructions and be keyed into the actions, body language and intention of those around them.

The voice has such a wide range of abilities, but practicing using it safely is important. Singing teaches projection, annunciation, portraying feeling and emotion in vocal inflection as well as trains the voice to have a wide range.

These are worthy performing arts skills to practice, but we believe through this practice a child grows in life skills such as confidence, bravery, trying new things and navigating social situations.

  • No. Camps are designed to accommodate a variety of experiences.

  • No need to practice at home. Only if they are excited to show off their new special skills

  • Since the day is high energy, after care will be more low key activities such as crafting, coloring, and games. Screens are only used as an educational tool such as watching a demonstration or example performance.
